All of the first aid courses comply with Victorian State Legislation. Melbourne Health Training Services is an on-site training specialist.

Asthma Management Courses

MHTS licensed Trainers are able to facilitate the Asthma Foundation program, 21386VIC - Course in Emergency Asthma Management. This is a 3 hour workshop consisting of a Core Module on Asthma Awareness and a Target Module tailored to meet the specific needs of community organisations, including Asthma in Sport; Asthma and the Child in Care; Asthma in Schools; and Asthma in the Workplace. Participants from the Workshops may then apply to The Asthma Foundation of Victoria for a Bronchodilator Accreditation Number (BAN), which in turn will allow an organisation to hold blue reliever medication in the First Aid Kit for emergency use.

Action Plan for Anaphylaxis - Epipen 

A two hour anaphylaxis management course 

The Action Plan for Anaphylaxis - Epipen course covers the following topics:

  • background of anaphylaxis

  • minimizing risks

  • anaphylaxis action plan

  • epipen administration and first aid

  • DRABCD and the primary survey

  • shock

The course duration is 2 hours. A CPR update can be added to the content and this extends the duration to 4.0 hours.

General & Workplace Courses

Basic Life Support (Level 1) 

A one day course covering:

  •   resuscitation

  •   management of the unconscious

  •   wounds and bleeding

  •   first aid equipment

  •   assessment of danger

  •   history taking

  •   hygiene skills 

Senior First Aid (Level 2)  

Method 1

2 days study face to face and assessment. Suits people new to first aid or learners who appreciate full instruction.

Method 2

This course can be studied as a combined home study with one day of practical instruction and assessment. This suits people who are prepared to completed a work book at home and then attend the training day.

Both courses cover:

  • resuscitation

  • management of the unconscious 

  • shock

  • wounds and bleeding

  • fractures 

  • asthma 

  • seizures 

  • sprains and strains

  • eye injuries,

  • poisons

  • insect, marine and snake bites

  • movement of patient

  • first aid equipment

  • remote first aid

  • assessment of danger

  • history taking

  • hygiene skills

Senior First Aid (Level 2) Refresher

Complete the theory work at home with the text book, the schools onsite presentations and a student work book. Submit the workbook for assessment and  attend the practical revision and assessment workshop. These workshops coincide with day one of all the first aid courses. Just ring the office to book into one of the workshops.

SAED Defibrillation

Learn how to use the semi-automated external defribrillator on patients. Advanced physiology of the cardiorespiratory system is covered as well as basic physics of the SAED. 31022QLD is nationally recognized - and all participants must have obtained level II first aid before commencing the course.
