INTRODUCTION - FIRST AID PRINCIPLES  

First aid is the initial care of the sick or injured and the treatment is usually taken over by a medical expert.

5 aims of first aid

  • Preserve life

  • Protect the unconscious

  • Prevent further injury

  • Promote recovery

  • Procure medical aid

What is medical aid?

Trained medical professionals able to perform qualified emergency care include doctors, specialist nurses and ambulance officers/paramedics. These people have completed tertiary studies at University and have experience working in emergency care.
