Become a First Aid Trainer - No start up fees.

The Melbourne Health Training Services First Aid Instructor Course is a 4 hour training and testing program for all instructors.

It is designed to extend the participants' knowledge of accident management and first aid and prepare them to teach our First Aid Programs. Successful participants become certified to teach the MHTS First Aid courses. Participants become licensed to deliver first aid courses and issue nationally recognized certificates. Inquire now and start a new career.

Prerequisites

Participants must have a current Level II first aid qualification as well as a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. If you do not hold any of these qualifications, contact MHTS for the dates of training to become qualified. Participants who have experience working in a health related field are encouraged to apply.

Resources Required by the Trainer

You need to purchase your own resuscitation manikins, bandages and other first aid material. The license gives you access to the extensive range of teaching material devised by the staff at MHTS. You must use the work books and text supplied by MHTS. At the completion of a training course you submit evidence of the competencies being completed by the students and MHTS issues a nationally recognized certificate.

Contents

Topics include bleeding, respiratory emergencies, cardiac emergencies, fractures, soft tissue injuries, head injuries, diabetes, epilepsy/convulsions, envenomation and poisoning, thermal injuries, and others.

Recognition

MHTS courses in Basic First Aid (level I first aid) and Advanced First Aid (level II first aid), Level III First Aid, CPR, Defibrillation and Advanced Resuscitation. All of these courses are registered under the Nationally Recognised Training Scheme.

Fee

Program fees vary slightly from place to place. The fee includes all training costs, as well as the MHTS Instructor Manual and extensive teaching materials. Contact MHTS for advice on fees for a particular course.
